Amy Harris is a dedicated wife and mother of 2 who opened PHYX in 2016 as a fitness solution for her community. Amy had spent years participating in fitness classes, private sessions, road races, and triathlons, yet still found that she had not reached her goals both physically and mentally. Amy then found strength training, and made it her personal mission to craft a new vision of wellness.
Through PHYX Amy has created a space where her community can focus on total wellness—encompassing all areas of fitness, nutrition, and mindset. Amy and her team focus on providing their community with the tools needed to create life-long health based on individual goals. Amy wants everyone to know that no matter where they are in their journey, they can be better at PHYX.
A northern Michigan native, her childhood love of sports created a life-long foundation for health and wellness. Melissa is dedicated to helping others achieve their own health and fitness goals. She has 4 years of experience as an ACE Certified Personal Trainer & Group Fitness Instructor. Melissa has taught TRX, Les Mills BodyPump, BodyCombat, Pilates, and Circuit Training.
This busy mom of two strives to give her clients practical information to live healthy and help them to cultivate discipline to reach their goals.
Jolie is a graduate of Ohio State University with a Bachelors of Science in Human Relations. Jolie is a skilled motivational speaker on the subjects of exercise, nutrition, and healthy living. She is a competitive body-builder who recently won first place at the 2015 Grand Rapids NPC Michigan Show in the Masters Figure Division.
Since receiving her certification in personal training from the Blue Heron Academy 9 years ago, Jolie continues to stay abreast of the latest in fitness research.
Jolie is known around Phyx for her kind heart, and the amazing energy she brings to every class! She is truly an inspiration to our community, and our resident hugger!
Brian served as the head coach at Born Fitness and was the Senior Nutrition and Exercise Coach at BioTrust Nutrition (one of the biggest supplement companies in the world).
Brian has been a trainer for more than 8 years and holds certifications through ACE, and YogaFit. Brian is a Precision Nutrition Level 2 Coach and is in the process of completing his Bachelors in Lifestyle Coaching from Arizona State University.
Katie is a Grand Valley Senior who is passionate about strength training. Katie enjoys working with the aging population and those with mobility issues.
Katie also loves CrossFit and is a complete rock star with a 95# barbell. We are blessed to start our Mondays and Wednesdays with you in the 5 & 6am classes Katie!
Meet Steve Powers! He bring over 10 years of active duty United States Marine Corps experience to the Phyx team. He is a Certified Personal Trainer with an extensive background in leadership, sports training, and martial arts. He specializes in military boot camp as well as sports and agility style training.
Steve grew up in Ohio where he excelled in sports such as basketball and track. He was honorably discharged from the Marines in 2012. He recently relocated to the Michigan area with his wife (our own Bernadette Powers) and is excited to be part of the Phyx team! Steve does our Tuesday/Thursday 6:30pm classes.
